Sexiest Chicken Coop you'll ever see

When Marlies and Jo Eyck acquired their 17th century Wijlre Castle in Netherlands they wanted to add an art gallery. Unfortunately historical preservation rules did not allow them to do so. Not ones to be easily deterred the once toolshed, orchid room and henhouse became the new henhouse, greenhouse, tool shed AND art gallery.

I guarantee you that this henhouse is one of a kind. One wall opens onto a chicken run and the other to a garden room. I don't know about you but if I were a hen, I'd definitely want to live here. For the complete story courtesy of Gardenista please click here.

Concrete Creation

I have a thing for concrete and cement interiors these days so when I fell upon a post about this home in the Swiss Alps, I just had to repost.  These two rooms belong to Vila Vals - a home built into the side of a mountain with unspoiled views and access only via a neighboring shed. Starbucks + Upcycled Shipping Containers = New Store

How innovative is Starbucks to have their walk-up store and drive through made out of refurbished shipping containers. Located in Tukwila, Seattle, this is the first one of their Coffeehouse's to be made out of refurbished containers and there is definitely no lack of design. Bravo Starbucks!

Minimalism in Stockholm

 

Just 15 feet at it's widest point, this minimalist home located on the outskirts of Stockholm is 20 feet high with   1700 square feet of living space. The first floor contains the living room and kitchen, the second floor boasts three bedrooms, a library and a bathroom.

South African Symbiosis

This South African home, designed by Silvio Rech and Lesley Carstens from INK Design Lab, has been totally integrated with it's surroundings. The exposed beams, earth tones, natural elements and awesome views make the home look like it just sprung up from the earth. I just can't get enough of that kitchen with the tree growing through it or the bathroom with it's hollowed out tree trunk vanity.
