French Floral Artist Claire Basler

My friend Lesley Charters Cotton sent me this profile on Floral Artist Claire Basler and boy am I happy that she did. I have never seen floral art this glorious in my life. Claire Basler's murals are just breathtaking. Claire fills the former schoolhouse, now her home and studio, with flowers on a daily basis to provide her with inspiration for her paintings. Jim Datz Prints of New York

 

I love these Jim Datz prints of Manhattan and Brooklyn. Since I visited both of these places during my recent trip to New York, I only wish that I'd seen these prints sooner so I would've known where I was going! I think I may pick them up for my Studio as a nice reminder of my trip.

Artist Melissa Pop

"La Primavera"

I fell in love with Melissa Pop's paintings the minute I saw them on Pinterest. One look and I was sold. Beautiful, cheerful, reflective and soulful are some of the words I'd use to describe Melissa's paintings and one of my favorite paintings is "La Primavera" which is shown above. The way Melissa has depicted the many colors of the wave as the sun shines through it is just remarkable. There is a luminescence about this painting that draws the viewer in, to the point where you feel like you are part of the wave and part of something bigger than yourself. I love the feelings of warmth and security that I get from this painting and although I know I can't, I feel like I could crawl inside that wave and spend all eternity there.

"Freedom" is a little more soulful and at first glance, a little colder, but do not be fooled, this painting offers up a flight of imagination as vivid as the birds it portrays.

"Until the Lights Come On", "Underwater Melody" and "Tropical Delight" all depict the vibrant colors of tropical life and offer you the opportunity to experience the natural beauty both above and below the water.

Born in Montreal but living in Panama since 2008, Melissa's inspiration has been the colors and rhythm of her day to day life there. The Rain Room at MoMA

The new interactive exhibit Rain Room has opened at MoMA (Museum of Modert Art) in New York and it looks like great fun. As soon as the field of rain detects a human body it pauses just above you giving you the ability to inspect the rain around you without getting wet. How cool is that!

Wall of Art

A wall of art can add such an element of drama to a room. I especially love them in awkward spaces such as attics and the like as you can vary the size of the frame and really create something fun to look at. My other favorite spot is the stairwell which is a great place for family photos.
