Eco-chic Fire Starters
I find that certain scents just calm me right down. A fire burning in a fireplace also does the trick. Combine the two and I'm the happiest person alive. Here is a simple DIY for you to do just that!
Pine cones and dried herbs such as rosemary, sage leaves, and cinnamon sticks make fragrant kindling for a winter fire unlike composite fire logs and lighter fluid as they don't rely on chemicals to ignite the flame.
Directions:
1. Bundle dried herbs and small pine cones in a sheet of newspaper and secure the ends with raffia or cotton twine.
2. As you pile your logs for your fire, nestle the herb bundle underneath the logs with the paper ends sticking out.
3. To start the fire simply light the newspaper ends. As the paper burns up the herbs inside will ignite and incinerate giving the logs a chance to catch fire.

DIY: Canning Lid Pumpkin Centerpiece
What a simple centerpiece to make! All you have to do is take a whole bunch of canning lids that are the same size and then tie them tightly together. You can upcycle some old lids or you may use new lids for a more polished pumpkin. Personally I find that the old lids add some flavor to the pumpkin. For full instructions please click here.

South African Symbiosis
This South African home, designed by Silvio Rech and Lesley Carstens from INK Design Lab, has been totally integrated with it's surroundings. The exposed beams, earth tones, natural elements and awesome views make the home look like it just sprung up from the earth. I just can't get enough of that kitchen with the tree growing through it or the bathroom with it's hollowed out tree trunk vanity.
