Country Dreaming

Lately I've been dreaming of having a Country home like this, surrounded by trees and animals. Although the constant quiet would take some getting used to......I live in a City Suburb so noise is a constant thing.....I think I could really get in touch with my inner Homesteader here.  I can already see the garden. Here is my potting shed where I'll grow my own herbs...
which I'll use in my cooking
and in my baking
and when I need a breath of fresh air I'm going to make a cup of tea and bring it outside and sit on my tree stump stool.
and then I'll get back to making something cause that's what I do.......

A Woodworker's Home Office

Rochelle Chavez is a woodworker who creates beautiful pieces of furniture as well as art. The photo above is of her home office and I just love it. An up-cycled wood divider, vintage pieces, books and artwork combine to make this a beautiful, cozy place.  See the rest of Rochelle's home here.

Window Seat

When the weather turns colder I find myself wanting to curl up in a corner with a book and a blanket so this window seat with it's Moroccan blanket, coffee pot and beautiful view of trees was just what the doctor ordered this morning.

DIY: Up-cycled newspaper wallpaper

What a great idea for recycling old newspapers or old book papers. This wallpaper was made with old encyclopedia pages combined with newspapers for an interesting look. When I was studying fashion design I did a whole wall in my apt. with fashion photos from W magazine which was a color newspaper back then. The wall was awesome and so much fun to look at. Hmmmmm......this is giving me an idea!

Norwegian Sitting room

I love white and I love Norwegian décor so this room with it's cozy look is definitely one of my favorites. The simplicity of it all is what really makes my heart beat and although it is all white, the room still has a warmth to it.

Paint your own rug

So I'm doing my usual thing of "Pinteresting" (translation: spending endless hours on Pinterest looking at beautiful photos and pinning them to my boards)  last night when I stumble upon this gorgeous photo of a painted rug. The rug was portrayed on apartment therapy along with four others that are also very discreet. Here's another one I really like.

Knotted Knitting

Not long ago I decided that I wanted to learn how to knit. My sister can knit anything and she always says how relaxing it is. So I filled my head with pictures of knitted socks and beautiful blankets being masterfully crafted by me. It was a beautiful vision. Doesn't it look easy and sooooo relaxing? I couldn't wait to start......relaxing I mean. Well the photo above is what was in my head when I signed up for knitting classes and the photo below is what is actually happening. So to all you knitters out there, I tip my half knitted square to you for alas my skills lie elsewhere for the moment. In a grave with a tombstone which reads "It seemed like a good idea at the time".

Reclaimed Rustic

Isn't this living room smashing! I just love the pairing of the tufted blue couch with the brown leather arm chairs and industrial floor lamps. The hints of orange in both the throw and the bottles also add a nice bright touch to the room. And dare I say anything about those awesome reclaimed barn wood doors. Talk about gorgeous!

Zara September Lookbook

I like the clean lines and geometric shapes of Zara's new women's collection. I especially like the gray dress with the low V in the front. If I'm not mistaken, there's a little bit of a 50's inspiration there. I think I'll be paying a visit to Zara today.

Cat Color match

If you've ever wondered where some of the decor inspiration for our homes comes from just take a look at these pictures. Whether it's the stripes of the kitten in the first photo, the texture of the fur in the 2nd, the eyes of the 3rd or simply the grayness of the 4th (so cute!), these cats all have one thing in common, they have given us the gift of beauty and inspired us to recreate it in our surroundings.
